Fairy Magic History.
Lisa began her creative costume designing at a very young age. Making
her first butterfly wings at 10 years old for a primary school play .
They were magnificent iridescent gold organza with blue,
turquoise and purple glitter designs.
At age 17 Lisa began her designing career making fantasy
accessories and elaborate costumes for fashion shows, special events,
weddings and parades. In 1992 the word “fairy” was whispered to her by
a clairvoyant. That one word “fairy” became Fairy Magic a life
time passionate work in progress from the first item of making a wand
from black bamboo and a cardboard star with glitter decoration, “things
have really evolved since those first fairy days”, Lisa laughs.
The fairy phenomena became the fastest growing industry in Australia
with one new shop opening every week. “I was making fairy wings ,wands,
fairy costumes and paraphernalia for up to 100 hours per week. I
was fairy crazed.
It has spread all over the world now. How often do you hear “I wish we
had those beautiful fairy costumes around when I was a little
girl”. Fairy play and dress ups is now a must have part of life
for every child. A friend once described Lisa: “Everything she
touches turns to gold”. It must be all about being passionate
about the potential of your dreams and working together with fantastic
people who also see the benefit of making a child feel so special and
fairylike. The fairies would be pleased. “Oh blessed fairy please visit
my garden and dance and sing with joy amongst the flowers”.
Imagination is wonderful, all that we dream about, all that we desire
can be manifested. But be careful what you dream for. You know they
could come true. Making a magic wish is simple but only good wishes
come true. Children have a special intrigue and fascination with
fairies they are Spirits of nature, magical mystical creatures, often
in children fairytales, ballet, Opera, books, paintings and movies.
Though out history people have actually seen fairies. Ma-Kuh a Chinese
fairy lived in 2nd century AD. She was the a delicate fairy sorceress
and magical fairy of the Mulberry Orchid. In the English
tradition fairies are often tiny creatures with the own realm of royal
courts, they enjoy music and dancing, wear glittered and jewelled
clothes. They are so tiny that the whole royal dais can be
caught under a man’s hat.
The most beautiful fairies are from Ireland with their nymphlike
appearance and love of nature and music often residing in highly
picturesque fairylands protected by magic with flowers blooming as if
it was spring all year round. A land where none could grow old or
perish. Other folkloric names for fairies Fay (meaning enchanted)
Faery Faerie.
Sirens of the Sea.
Mermaids are supernatural mythical creatures of the sea, with top half
of a beautiful woman and the lower body of a fish. The mermaid is
frequently described as appearing above the surface of the water and
combing her long hair with one hand while holding a mirror in the
other. Mermaids, in the numerous tales told of them, often foretell the
future, sometimes under compulsion; give supernatural powers to human
beings; or fall in love with human beings. Mermaid costumes are fun for
every little mermaid.
Delightful play with imagination and joy.
